Fundo de Pensões EDP is the institutional pension fund for the EDP Group (Energias de Portugal), one of Europe's major electricity and gas utility companies. The fund manages the retirement benefits of EDP's employees and is currently overseen by the management company Ageas Pensões. While its primary function is financial asset management, the fund has become a notable institutional investor in the life sciences sector, serving as a limited partner in venture capital firms such as Biovance Capital. Through these investments, it supports early-stage drug development and biotechnology innovation, particularly in Southern Europe. The fund also maintains a strong commitment to Responsible Investment (RI) and ESG principles, aiming for a carbon-neutral investment portfolio by 2040.
