Génopharm

Génopharm was a French pharmaceutical company specializing in the distribution and marketing of orphan drugs and specialized medicines for oncology and hematology. Founded in 1993 and based in Élancourt, the company focused on providing niche therapeutic products to the French healthcare market, including the chemotherapy agent Thiotepa. In 2011, Génopharm became the center of a major public health scandal after it was discovered that the company had distributed expired or improperly labeled batches of Thiotepa. This led to the suspension of its pharmaceutical license by the French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety (ANSM). Following the regulatory crackdown, the company was acquired by the Swiss group Alkopharma and eventually ceased independent operations as its leadership faced criminal charges.
