Galena Biopharma

Galena Biopharma was a US-based biopharmaceutical company focused on developing targeted oncology therapeutics. Its lead program was NeuVax™ (nelipepimut-S), a peptide vaccine targeting HER2-expressing breast cancer patients to prevent recurrence. The pipeline also included GALE‑401, a controlled-release formulation of anagrelide for essential thrombocythemia, and early-stage immunotherapies targeting folate binding protein. In late December 2017, Galena merged with SELLAS Life Sciences Group in a reverse takeover; the combined company continued under the SELLAS name with a focus on novel immunotherapies against hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. At the time of its acquisition, Galena had several programs in mid-to-late clinical stages but faced significant business challenges including legal investigations and financial difficulties.[1][3][4][5]
