Galileo Corporation, formerly known as Galileo Electro-Optics Corporation, was a prominent developer and manufacturer of fiberoptic and electro-optic products used in medical, scientific, and industrial applications. The company specialized in microchannel plate (MCP) technology and electron multipliers, which were critical components in mass spectrometry for drug discovery and pharmaceutical research. Through its subsidiary Leisegang Medical, the company also provided a range of women's health products, including colposcopes and biopsy instruments for cervical cancer screening. In 2000, the company changed its name to NetOptix Corporation and was subsequently acquired by Corning Incorporated.
