Galmed Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of oral therapy for the treatment of liver diseases. The company's lead compound, Aramchol (arachidyl amido cholanoic acid), is a first-in-class, liver-targeted Stearoyl-CoA Desaturase 1 (SCD1) modulator. Aramchol is currently being evaluated in the ARMOR Phase 3 registrational study for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and fibrosis. Beyond NASH, Galmed is exploring the potential of its synthetic fatty acid/bile acid conjugates (FABACs) in other fibro-inflammatory diseases such as primary sclerosing cholangitis.
