Galtec

Galtec is an Argentine biotechnology company focused on translating decades of research on Galectin-1 (Gal-1) into novel therapeutic strategies for cancer and autoimmune diseases. Founded in 2023 by renowned scientist Gabriel Rabinovich, the company is a spin-off from CONICET and the Institute of Biology and Experimental Medicine (IBYME). Galtec's technology platform centers on modulating the interactions between Gal-1 and specific glycans to regulate immune responses. Their pipeline includes a monoclonal antibody designed to inhibit Gal-1's immunosuppressive effects in the tumor microenvironment and a recombinant Gal-1 variant aimed at treating multiple sclerosis.
