Gamma Delta Therapeutics is a biotechnology company specializing in the development of next-generation immunotherapies using tissue-resident gamma delta T cells. Founded in 2016 as a spin-out from King's College London and the Francis Crick Institute, the company leverages its proprietary GDX platform to isolate and expand these unique immune cells for therapeutic use. Unlike more common blood-derived gamma delta T cells, tissue-resident cells possess distinct properties that make them well-suited for treating both hematological malignancies and solid tumors. The company's lead program, GDX012, is an allogeneic cell therapy that entered Phase 1 clinical trials for acute myeloid leukemia. In early 2022, the company was acquired by Takeda Pharmaceutical Company to bolster its cell therapy pipeline and oncology portfolio.
