Company intelligence / Profile preview
GATC Biotech was a German genomics services company focused on DNA and RNA sequencing, next-generation sequencing, Sanger sequencing, and bioinformatics for academic, industrial, and healthcare customers. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Konstanz, Germany, it built a strong position in Europe as a specialist provider of custom sequencing and genomic analysis services rather than as a therapeutic drug developer. Its operations included next- and third-generation sequencing capabilities, human exome sequencing for clinical settings, and supporting bioinformatics workflows, with major sequencing activities in Konstanz and Cologne. In 2017, Eurofins Scientific agreed to acquire GATC Biotech, and the transaction closed in July 2017, after which GATC became part of Eurofins Genomics.
