Gebr. Gödecke

Gödecke was a prominent German pharmaceutical company founded in 1866, originally established in Leipzig before moving its headquarters to Berlin and later Freiburg. The company gained international significance for its research and development in small molecule therapeutics, particularly in the fields of neurology and cardiovascular health. Its most notable achievement was the discovery and development of Gabapentin, marketed as Neurontin, which became a global standard for treating epilepsy and neuropathic pain. In 1970, Gödecke was acquired by the American firm Warner-Lambert, serving as its primary European research and production hub. Following Pfizer's acquisition of Warner-Lambert in 2000, Gödecke was fully integrated into Pfizer's global operations. Today, the former Gödecke site in Freiburg remains one of Pfizer's most advanced manufacturing facilities, specializing in the production of solid dosage forms.
