Gendux Pharmaceuticals

Gendux Pharmaceuticals was a biopharmaceutical company and a subsidiary of Introgen Therapeutics, primarily focused on the development and commercialization of gene therapies for cancer in the European market. Its lead product candidate, Advexin (contusugene ladenovec), was an adenoviral-based p53 gene therapy designed to treat various solid tumors, including head and neck cancer and the rare genetic disorder Li-Fraumeni Syndrome. Despite reaching Phase 3 clinical trials and submitting marketing applications to the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the company withdrew its applications in 2008 and 2009 following regulatory setbacks and the bankruptcy of its parent company, Introgen. The technology was later pursued by MultiVir, a successor company founded by former Introgen executives.
