GeneAssess

GeneAssess is a biotechnology company founded in 2012 as a spin-off from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers University). The company specialized in developing diagnostic and genetic tests for cancer risk assessment and staging, centered on the FRY gene, a putative tumor suppressor and novel biomarker. GeneAssess's technology was designed to identify breast cancer at earlier stages and provide a platform for tumor grading and monitoring disease progression in various epithelial cell-derived tumors, including those of the prostate, ovary, lung, and brain. The company also explored the development of precision cancer therapies using FRY signal targeting to restore tumor suppressor function. Although it received initial seed funding from the Foundation Venture Capital Group, the company is currently considered inactive.
