Genesis Pre-Seed Fund

The Genesis Pre-Seed Fund is a $15 million venture capital fund established by the University of Melbourne in partnership with Breakthrough Victoria. Launched in 2023, the fund is designed to bridge the 'valley of death' for early-stage startups emerging from the University of Melbourne's research ecosystem. It provides pre-seed capital, expertise, and mentoring to researchers, students, and alumni, with a strong focus on deep tech sectors such as life sciences, therapeutics, medical devices, and agtech. The fund aims to accelerate the translation of world-class research into commercially viable products and services that address global challenges.
