GeneVec

GenVec was a clinical-stage gene therapy company specializing in the development of adenoviral vectors for therapeutic and prophylactic applications. The company's core technology, the AdenoVerse platform, allowed for the design and production of gene delivery vehicles with high payload capacity and specific targeting capabilities. GenVec's most notable clinical program, CGF166, was developed in partnership with Novartis to treat hearing loss by regenerating sensory hair cells in the inner ear. The company also developed TNFerade, an oncolytic therapy for pancreatic cancer, and collaborated with government agencies on vaccines for infectious diseases like malaria and RSV. In June 2017, GenVec was acquired by Intrexon Corporation (now Precigen) to bolster its viral vector manufacturing and delivery expertise.
