Genia Technologies

Genia Technologies was a private U.S. biotechnology company focused on next-generation DNA sequencing. The company developed a semiconductor-based, nanopore sequencing platform designed for massively parallel, single-molecule, real-time analysis without optics, labels, amplification, or complex fluidics. Its core technology combined integrated circuits, biological nanopores, and proprietary NanoTag chemistry to improve sequencing speed, sensitivity, accuracy, and cost. Genia was founded in 2009 in Mountain View, California, and was acquired by Roche in June 2014. Following the acquisition, the company was integrated into Roche's sequencing efforts and no longer operates as an independent company.
