Genicon Sciences

Genicon Sciences was a private life science tools company based in San Diego, California that developed, manufactured, and distributed bioassay products, instrumentation, software, and services for the biotechnology, genomics, proteomics, and clinical diagnostics markets. Its core technology was Resonance Light Scattering (RLS), an ultra-sensitive nanoparticle-based signal generation and detection platform designed for use across molecular assay formats including microarray, microfluidic, membrane, high-throughput screening, protein, DNA-based, and cellular assays. The company appears to have commercialized research-use and assay-enabling products rather than therapeutics, so it was not a drug-development biotech in the traditional sense. Genicon Sciences was later acquired through an asset purchase by Invitrogen, and the original standalone company is no longer active as an independent operating business.
