Genomic Nanosystems

Genomic Nanosystems was a biotechnology company that specialized in the development of digital PCR (dPCR) technologies and intellectual property. Based in Beltsville, Maryland, the company operated as a subsidiary of Cytonix Corporation and was a pioneer in the field of high-sensitivity nucleic acid quantification. Its foundational technology, DigitalPCR™, was designed to enable the detection of rare genetic sequences at the single-molecule level. In 2008, the company entered into a significant licensing agreement with Sequenom, providing the exclusive rights needed to develop noninvasive prenatal diagnostic tests for conditions such as Down syndrome. While the company was instrumental in the early commercialization of dPCR, it is no longer active as an independent entity following the expiration of its core patents.
