The company's primary focus was on SMAC-mimetics, which are designed to induce apoptosis in cancer cells by inhibiting Inhibitor of Apoptosis Proteins (IAPs). Its lead candidate, birinapant, was evaluated in multiple clinical trials for hematological malignancies and solid tumors, as well as for viral infections like Hepatitis B.
