Gentier Biosystems

Gentier Biosystems was a Japanese biotechnology company founded in July 2003 as a spin-off from academic research at Kyoto University and Nihon University. The company specialized in the development and custom synthesis of pyrrole-imidazole (PI) polyamides, which are synthetic small molecules designed to recognize specific DNA sequences in the minor groove and regulate gene expression. Gentier Biosystems focused on utilizing these PI polyamides as gene-silencing agents targeting promoters of disease-related genes, such as TGF-beta1 for progressive renal diseases and LOX-1 for arterial restenosis. The company operated as a pre-clinical research-stage biotech and service provider before its corporate registry was officially closed in December 2022.
