Company intelligence / Profile preview
GenVec was a pioneer in the development of adenoviral vector-based gene therapies and vaccines. Its lead program targeting pancreatic cancer failed a late-stage trial several years before its acquisition. The company’s proprietary AdenoVerse™ platform enabled the development of multiple therapeutic candidates across oncology and infectious diseases. Over 3,000 subjects received GenVec therapeutics or vaccines in global clinical trials. In January 2017, Intrexon acquired GenVec to expand its own gene delivery capabilities.
