Genzyme Polyclonals is a specialized business unit within Sanofi (formerly part of Genzyme Corporation) that focuses on the development and large-scale manufacturing of polyclonal antibody therapies. The division is primarily known for its production of Thymoglobulin (anti-thymocyte globulin [rabbit]), a potent immunosuppressive agent used to prevent and treat acute organ transplant rejection and certain hematological conditions like aplastic anemia. Based in Marcy-l'Étoile, France, the unit operates one of the world's leading facilities for rabbit-derived biological products. Since Sanofi's acquisition of Genzyme in 2011, this division has been a cornerstone of Sanofi's transplant and specialty care portfolio. Its expertise spans the entire lifecycle of polyclonal biologics, from specialized animal husbandry to complex protein purification and GMP manufacturing.
