GFF Niederösterreich

GFF Niederösterreich is the research funding agency of the Austrian state of Lower Austria and operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of the province. Its core business is not drug development, but the administration of competitive research funding calls, scholarships, awards, and related science-support programs aligned with Lower Austria's RTI Strategy 2027. The organization supports basic and applied research projects, research infrastructure, dissertation and citizen-science programs, and additional educational support schemes including some medicine/health scholarship offerings. Historically, it succeeded NÖ Forschungs- und Bildungsges.m.b.H. following a 2011 merger of predecessor entities, including Life Science Krems GmbH, but today it functions primarily as a public-sector research promotion body rather than a biotech or pharma operating company.
