Company intelligence / Profile preview
Glenbrook Laboratories was a prominent American consumer healthcare company that operated as a division of Sterling Drug Inc. The company was best known for marketing and distributing iconic over-the-counter brands such as Bayer Aspirin, Phillips' Milk of Magnesia, Midol, and Vanquish. Throughout the mid-20th century, Glenbrook established a dominant presence in the proprietary medicine market through extensive advertising and a robust retail distribution network. Following the acquisition of Sterling Drug by Eastman Kodak in 1988, the Glenbrook portfolio was eventually divested. In 1994, the business was acquired by SmithKline Beecham, which subsequently sold the North American rights to the Bayer brand back to Bayer AG, effectively integrating Glenbrook's legacy assets into modern global pharmaceutical leaders.
