Global Health Institute

The Merck Global Health Institute (MGHI) is a specialized research and development unit of Merck KGaA dedicated to addressing infectious diseases of poverty. Operating as a social business, the institute focuses on the discovery, development, and delivery of innovative medicines, vaccines, and diagnostics for neglected tropical diseases and malaria. Its lead program, arpraziquantel, is a pediatric treatment for schistosomiasis that has completed Phase 3 trials and reached the regulatory submission stage. MGHI utilizes a collaborative model, partnering with academic institutions, NGOs, and other pharmaceutical companies to advance its pipeline and ensure global access to essential health solutions.
