GMP Immunotherapeutics

GMP Immunotherapeutics was a biotechnology subsidiary of GMP Companies, Inc., established in 2003 to develop a portfolio of small molecule immunotherapies licensed from the University of Michigan. The company's lead research focused on Bz-423, a pro-apoptotic benzodiazepine derivative that targets the mitochondrial F1F0-ATP synthase to induce selective cell death in pathogenic lymphocytes. Its primary therapeutic targets included autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus) and psoriasis, as well as various cancers. In 2007, the company's intellectual property rights were assigned back to the University of Michigan and subsequently licensed to Lycera Corp, effectively ending GMP Immunotherapeutics' development operations.
