Company intelligence / Profile preview
Go2Net was a prominent internet technology company during the dot-com era, best known for its portfolio of search engines and web portals, including MetaCrawler and Silicon Investor. In the healthcare sector, the company gained a significant presence through its 1999 acquisition of Physicians' Online (POL), which at the time was the largest online community and information resource for medical professionals. Go2Net was eventually acquired by InfoSpace in 2000 in a multi-billion dollar merger, and its assets were later integrated into various digital media and search platforms. While not a traditional life sciences company, its ownership of Physicians' Online made it a key player in early digital health and medical informatics.
