Gold Country Seed was a regional agricultural biotechnology company specializing in the development and distribution of high-performing corn and soybean seeds for the Upper Midwest. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the company focused on providing localized agronomic solutions and genetics tailored to the specific environmental conditions of the Northern Plains. In 2006, it was acquired by Monsanto as part of the American Seeds, Inc. (ASI) platform, and it subsequently became part of Bayer's Crop Science division following the 2018 merger. The brand was known for its 'Farmer-to-Farmer' approach and its utilization of advanced traits such as Roundup Ready and SmartStax technologies. In 2020, Bayer announced the consolidation of Gold Country Seed into its national Channel seed brand to streamline its regional business operations.
