Gongchu Biotechnology is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of next-generation oncolytic virus therapies for the treatment of advanced cancers. Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Hangzhou, China, the company utilizes a proprietary oncolytic vaccinia virus platform to engineer viruses that selectively replicate in tumor cells and deliver therapeutic payloads. Its lead candidate, GC001, is an oncolytic vaccinia virus that incorporates shRNA targeting Striatin Interacting Protein 1 (STRIP1) to enhance viral replication and induce tumor cell apoptosis; it is currently in Phase 1 trials for glioma and other solid tumors. Other pipeline programs include RGV004, which expresses a CD19/CD3 bispecific antibody for B-cell lymphomas, and oncoVV-AVL, which utilizes a marine-derived lectin to modulate the tumor microenvironment. In late 2024, the company received a strategic investment from Beijing Biostar Pharmaceuticals to accelerate its clinical development programs.
