Green Molecules

Green Molecules is a pioneering strategic platform established by Granules India to lead the decarbonization of the pharmaceutical industry. Primarily operated through its subsidiary, Granules CZRO, the platform focuses on the sustainable manufacturing of high-volume active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and key starting materials (KSMs) such as paracetamol and metformin using green hydrogen and renewable energy. The platform's centerpiece is a 100-acre integrated Green Pharmaceutical Zone (GPZ) in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, which aims to achieve near-net-zero emissions by integrating green chemistry, biocatalysis, and continuous manufacturing. By eliminating the industry's traditional reliance on fossil-fuel-based energy and feedstocks, Green Molecules is redefining sustainable drug production for global healthcare. The initiative reflects a massive multi-year investment intended to foster circularity and environmental stewardship in the pharmaceutical value chain.
