Gryphon Therapeutics

Gryphon Therapeutics was a biotechnology company specializing in the chemical synthesis of therapeutic proteins, a field it termed "Precision Protein Engineering." By utilizing total chemical synthesis rather than biological expression systems, the company could precisely modify protein structures to improve pharmacological properties such as half-life and immunogenicity. Its lead product candidate, GRY-1, was a synthetic erythropoietin analog that reached Phase 1/2 clinical trials for the treatment of anemia. The company's platform also targeted the development of improved versions of interferon and other cytokines. Gryphon ceased independent operations in 2005 when its technology and assets were acquired by MacuSight.
