Company intelligence / Profile preview
Guidant Endovascular Solutions was a prominent division of Guidant Corporation specializing in minimally invasive devices for the treatment of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular diseases. The company was a pioneer in the development of coronary and peripheral stents, balloon angioplasty catheters, and endovascular grafts for abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. In 2006, following a complex three-way transaction where Boston Scientific acquired Guidant, the endovascular and vascular business units were divested to Abbott Laboratories for approximately $4.1 billion to satisfy antitrust requirements. Today, the company's legacy technologies and market-leading products, such as the Xience stent platform, form the core of Abbott's global vascular device portfolio.
