Overview
GUT is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development of novel, targeted RNA oligonucleotide therapeutics for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. The company's therapeutic platform targets carbohydrate sulfotransferase 15 (CHST15), a matrix remodeling gene highly expressed in the colonic mucosa of patients who do not respond to standard anti-TNF therapies. Its lead candidate, GUT-1, is a locally injectable double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide that has demonstrated positive clinical outcomes in Phase IIa and investigator-initiated trials by suppressing mucosal inflammation and fibrosis. GUT is also advancing GUT-2, a novel, orally feasible chemically modified RNA oligonucleotide with the same active antisense sequence as GUT-1, designed to achieve therapeutic mucosal concentrations via oral delivery.
