Hahnemann University Hospital

Hahnemann University Hospital was a 496-bed academic medical center located in Center City, Philadelphia. Founded in 1848, it served as a major teaching hospital for over 170 years, most recently as the primary clinical site for the Drexel University College of Medicine. The institution provided a wide range of tertiary care services, including Level 1 trauma care, organ transplantation, and neonatal intensive care. In 2019, the hospital's owner, Philadelphia Academic Health System, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, leading to the permanent closure of the facility. Its closure marked a significant loss for the Philadelphia healthcare landscape, particularly for the city's underserved populations.
