Company intelligence / Profile preview
Hainan CITIC Biopharmaceutical Development Co., Ltd. (HCBP) was a Chinese biopharmaceutical company primarily focused on the development and distribution of human vaccines and specialty pharmaceuticals. As a key operating subsidiary of the US-listed China Biopharma Inc., the company marketed a portfolio of vaccines targeting influenza, hemorrhagic fever, and Japanese encephalitis within the Chinese market. HCBP also held a significant distribution agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company to market Serrapeptase tablets, an anti-inflammatory enzyme. The company aimed to expand its footprint through strategic acquisitions, such as its 2007 attempt to acquire Beijing Tiancheng Haixin Pharmaceutical. However, following the delisting of its parent company and the 2011 acquisition of its sister subsidiary, Zhejiang Tianyuan, by Novartis, HCBP's active operations have ceased.
