Hambrecht & Quist (H&Q) was a premier investment bank and venture capital firm that played a foundational role in the growth of the biotechnology and life sciences industries. Founded in 1968, the firm became renowned for identifying and financing high-growth technology and healthcare companies, famously underwriting the initial public offerings of industry pioneers such as Genentech and Amgen. H&Q's specialized focus on emerging growth sectors helped establish the financial infrastructure necessary for the modern biotech era.
