Hambrecht Asia Acquisition Corp. was a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) formed in 2007 to identify and acquire operating businesses primarily located in the People's Republic of China. The company was led by executives with significant experience in Asian investment banking and the pharmaceutical industry, including John Wang and Stephen Cannon. In March 2010, the company successfully completed a business combination with SGOCO Technology, Ltd., a Chinese manufacturer of LCD and LED products. Following the merger, the combined entity began operating as SGOCO Group, Ltd. and transitioned its focus toward consumer electronics and financial services.
