Hamilton Sundstrand

Hamilton Sundstrand was a global leader in the design and manufacture of aerospace and industrial products, headquartered in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Formed in 1999 through the merger of Hamilton Standard and Sundstrand Corporation, the company operated as a major subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation. While primarily an aerospace giant providing electrical and environmental systems for aircraft, the company maintained a significant presence in life-critical technologies. It was the primary contractor for NASA’s extravehicular activity (EVA) systems, including the life support backpacks used by astronauts. Additionally, its industrial division produced high-precision metering pumps and compressors used in laboratory and medical applications. In 2012, the company merged with Goodrich Corporation to form UTC Aerospace Systems, which is now part of Collins Aerospace under RTX Corporation.
