HAPTO Biotech

HAPTO Biotech was an Israeli biotechnology company specializing in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Founded in 2000 as a spin-off from the Hadassah Medical Organization, the company developed proprietary technologies based on the cell-attraction properties of fibrin. Its primary platforms included Fibrin Microbeads (Fibrin MB) for the isolation and implantation of autologous stem cells and Haptides™, a series of synthetic cell-binding peptides used to enhance the cellularization of scaffolds. The company's technology aimed to treat chronic wounds, bone defects, and cartilage lesions through "liquid tissue" delivery systems. HAPTO Biotech was acquired by Ortec International (later Forticell Bioscience) in 2006 to combine its peptide technology with Ortec's collagen-based wound care products.
