Harborside Healthcare was a leading provider of skilled nursing and rehabilitation services in the United States. Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Swampscott, Massachusetts, the company operated a network of over 70 facilities across several states, primarily in the Eastern and Midwestern regions. Its service offerings included long-term care, specialized Alzheimer's and dementia care, and post-acute rehabilitation programs. In 2007, Harborside was acquired by Sun Healthcare Group for approximately $630 million, a move that significantly expanded Sun's presence in the post-acute care market. Following the acquisition, its operations were integrated into Sun's portfolio and eventually became part of Genesis HealthCare after subsequent mergers.
