Company intelligence / Profile preview
Hartest Precision Instruments was a British manufacturer of precision measuring instruments and laboratory equipment, serving the healthcare, life sciences, and industrial sectors. Originally incorporated as Sheen Instruments, the company became a central part of the Hartest Holdings group, managing a diverse portfolio of brands including Digitron, Tinsley, and Henson. In 2010, Hartest Holdings was acquired by Elektron Technology (now Checkit plc) for approximately £6.6 million, leading to the integration of its technologies into the parent's broader portfolio. Over the following decade, several of its specialized divisions were divested, including the sale of the Sheen brand to Industrial Physics in 2017 and the Henson ophthalmology business to Topcon in 2020. Today, Hartest Precision Instruments Limited remains an active legal subsidiary of Checkit plc, though its primary business operations have been absorbed or transitioned into the parent's focus on intelligent workflow and automated monitoring solutions.
