Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute

The Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute (HWI) is an independent, non-profit biomedical research facility located in Buffalo, New York, specializing in structural biology. Founded in 1956, the institute gained international prominence when its former president, Dr. Herbert Hauptman, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for developing direct methods for determining crystal structures. HWI operates the world-renowned High-Throughput Crystallization Screening Center, which provides essential services to the global scientific community to facilitate drug discovery and development.
