Company intelligence / Profile preview
Healthcare Brands International (HBI) was a UK-based consumer healthcare company focused on the acquisition, development, and marketing of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical brands across Europe. Founded in 2006 and backed by private equity firms including Milestone Capital and Goldman Sachs, the company built a portfolio of well-known brands such as XLS-Medical and various regional healthcare products. HBI's business model centered on revitalizing established brands through targeted marketing and expanding their geographic footprint. In 2010, the company was acquired by the Belgian group Omega Pharma for approximately €60 million, which significantly expanded Omega's presence in the UK and international markets. Following the acquisition, HBI's operations were integrated into Omega Pharma, which was subsequently acquired by Perrigo in 2014.
