Company intelligence / Profile preview
Heart Tronics was a medical technology company primarily focused on the development of wireless heart-monitoring systems. The company's lead product, HeartSentry, was a portable electrocardiogram (ECG) device designed to monitor patients for cardiac arrhythmias and other heart conditions. Formerly known as Signalife, the firm rebranded to Heart Tronics in 2008 to distance itself from previous management issues. However, the company became the center of a major federal investigation involving a multi-million dollar securities fraud scheme. Executives and legal counsel were found to have fabricated sales orders and issued false press releases to inflate the company's stock price. As a result of the fraud and subsequent legal actions by the SEC and Department of Justice, the company's operations were effectively terminated.
