Heartscape Technologies was a medical device company that specialized in advanced cardiac diagnostic tools. The company's primary innovation was the Prime ECG, an 80-lead electrocardiographic system designed to provide a comprehensive, 360-degree view of the heart's electrical activity. Unlike traditional 12-lead ECGs, the Prime ECG could detect signs of ischemia and myocardial infarction in areas of the heart that are typically difficult to monitor, such as the posterior and right ventricular regions. This technology aimed to reduce the rate of missed diagnoses in emergency departments and cardiac care units. In 2010, the company was acquired by Verathon, a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, to expand their diagnostic imaging capabilities. The acquisition allowed for the integration of Heartscape's specialized cardiac monitoring into a broader medical device platform.
