Helping Everyone Receive Ongoing Effective Support, commonly known as HEROES, is a Louisiana-based nonprofit community health organization focused on HIV/AIDS education, prevention, support, and stigma reduction in Northeast Louisiana and the broader Deep South. The organization provides adult wellness services, youth education, referral support, community groups, free condoms, retreats, and treatment-access support for people living with HIV and populations at elevated risk of infection. HEROES also operates programs such as HEROES University and DREAM retreats, with an emphasis on underserved rural communities. Rather than developing therapeutics, the organization functions as a direct-service and public health support provider working to improve access to care, increase knowledge, and strengthen community health outcomes.
