Helse Øst

Helse Øst (Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority) was a Norwegian regional health authority responsible for managing specialist healthcare services in the counties of Akershus, Hedmark, Oppland, Oslo, and Østfold. Established in 2002 as part of a national healthcare reform, the authority oversaw several major hospital trusts, including Aker University Hospital, Ullevål University Hospital, and Akershus University Hospital. In June 2007, Helse Øst merged with Helse Sør to form Helse Sør-Øst, creating the largest health region in Norway. The organization was tasked with coordinating hospital operations, psychiatric care, and specialized medical treatments for over two million residents.
