HemeBiotech was a Danish-Swedish biotechnology company founded in 1998, specializing in the development of recombinant enzyme replacement therapies (ERT) for rare genetic disorders. The company focused on lysosomal storage diseases and metabolic conditions, with a pipeline that included treatments for alpha-mannosidosis, acute intermittent porphyria, and metachromatic leukodystrophy. HemeBiotech was later renamed Zymenex A/S, which continued the clinical development of these programs until its acquisition by the Chiesi Group in 2013. The company's work led to the eventual approval of Lamzede (velmanase alfa), the first enzyme replacement therapy for alpha-mannosidosis.
