Overview
Hemopure® (hemoglobin glutamer 250 bovine) is approved in South Africa and Russia for human use as an alternative to allogeneic blood transfusion, with Oxyglobin® approved for veterinary use in the US and EU. Clinical studies show Hemopure increases tissue and organ oxygenation and may have utility in organ preservation for transplantation, but broad FDA approval for human use remains pending. Recent preclinical data indicate Hemopure restored organ function after severe ischemia in animal studies[6][9][5].
