HemoSense

HemoSense was a medical technology company that developed and manufactured point-of-care diagnostic systems for monitoring blood coagulation. Its primary product, the INRatio system, enabled patients and healthcare providers to measure Prothrombin Time (PT) and International Normalized Ratio (INR) using a simple fingerstick blood sample. This technology was critical for individuals on warfarin therapy, helping to ensure they remained within their therapeutic range to prevent complications like stroke or internal bleeding. The company's handheld devices and disposable test strips provided lab-accurate results in minutes, significantly improving the convenience and frequency of monitoring. HemoSense was acquired by Inverness Medical Innovations (now part of Abbott) in 2007.
