Esperion Therapeutics is a pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of oral, once-daily, non-statin medicines for patients with elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). The company's lead product, Nexletol (bempedoic acid), is a first-in-class ATP citrate lyase (ACL) inhibitor that reduces cholesterol synthesis in the liver. Esperion also markets Nexlizet, a fixed-dose combination of bempedoic acid and ezetimibe, targeting both cholesterol production and absorption. Following the successful CLEAR Outcomes trial, the company has expanded its clinical focus to include the reduction of major adverse cardiovascular events in patients with or at high risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
