Company intelligence / Profile preview
HI-Bio, short for Human Immunology Biosciences, is a clinical-stage immunology biotech focused on targeted therapies for severe immune-mediated diseases, especially nephrology and other autoantibody-driven conditions. The company advanced felzartamab, an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody, across primary membranous nephropathy, immunoglobulin A nephropathy, antibody-mediated rejection in kidney transplant, and lupus nephritis, and also initiated development of HIB210, an anti-C5aR1 antibody. HI-Bio positioned itself as a precision immunology company using disease biology, cellular-driver insights, and translational tools to identify and develop therapies for immune-mediated disease subsets. In 2024, Biogen acquired HI-Bio and integrated it into its immunology effort, including a West Coast hub supporting kidney disease and broader immune-mediated disease development. The company was therefore a private clinical-stage biotech that now operates within Biogen rather than as an independent standalone public company.
